Smart, Sustainable Economic Growth
A thriving city needs a strong economy.
North Bay’s long-term strength depends on our ability to attract investment, support local businesses, create jobs and grow our municipal tax base.
We already have significant assets - and investors are taking note. The next step is making sure they know all of what North Bay has to offer, and ensuring we are ready when opportunities arrive.
As Mayor, I will continue to take an active role in economic development. I will continue collaborating with industry, our economic development team and senior levels of government to unlock growth in strategic areas such as the West Ferris Gateway Industrial Park and Airport Industrial Business Park.
Make North Bay a Destination for Defence Investment
Canada’s growing focus on defence creates an opportunity for communities that are prepared to compete for investment.
North Bay should be one of them.
As Mayor, I will work to ensure North Bay becomes a destination of choice for defence industries and NORD (Northern Ontario Road to Defence)-related investment, creating opportunities for businesses to grow and families to flourish.
Transform the Innovation Hub into a Community Block
Unlocking the Innovation Hub property at the end of Wyld St beside the basketball courts opens the door to a transformative project that will strengthen downtown, support families and bring new energy to the edge of the core.
A mixed commercial and residential development could turn the site into a vibrant, multi-purpose community anchor.
The development could blend:
-
Commercial space for local entrepreneurs, tech start-ups, social enterprises and small businesses.
-
Residential units that add attainable housing close to transit, recreation and the waterfront.
-
Flexible community space for programming, workshops, arts and cultural activities and neighbourhood events.
The result would be more people living downtown, more potential customers for local businesses and more activity connecting the downtown to the waterfront.
A More Vibrant, Year-Round Waterfront
North Bay’s waterfront is one of our greatest assets. We should enhance it without losing the character that makes it special.
One opportunity is to thoughtfully introduce soft commercialization, replacing the need for seasonal tents with permanent vendor spaces.
This would create a welcoming, family-friendly destination that supports local entrepreneurs, strengthens the waterfront economy and provides consistent amenities throughout the year.
These spaces should be designed to high standards for accessibility, public safety and environmental care. The goal is a waterfront that feels vibrant and inviting every day of the year while remaining true to the community that loves it.
Restore King's Landing
King’s Landing is one of North Bay’s most iconic shoreline features, but years of wear have left it in need of thoughtful restoration.
By prioritizing investing in structural repairs, modern safety standards and improved public amenities, we can transform it into a year-round gathering place supporting recreation, tourism and community pride.
Restoring King’s Landing is not simply about fixing infrastructure. It is about honouring a landmark that connects residents to Lake Nipissing, strengthens our waterfront identity and creates a space families can enjoy for generations.
Take North Bay’s Pitch to Investors
Economic development cannot be passive.
We need to actively tell North Bay’s story and build relationships with the companies and industries that could invest here.
I will continue to work closely with Economic Development and attend major industry events and conferences, including the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention, to attract investment to our city.
When businesses are deciding where to invest, North Bay needs to be in the room making the case.
